About me
If you’re choosing me to be your celebrant to guide you through a key part of your life, you should have a little window into who I am, my background, my life, loves and values.
I’ve been lucky enough to live on the truly stunning Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall for over 35 years. I’ll always be grateful to my parents for making the brave, life-changing decision to bring their family here all those years ago. Our coastline is a joy and I love living close to the sea with such a huge choice of awesome venues and natural places to conduct ceremonies.
I live with my superb husband Stuart, three glorious (but each very different) daughters Ruby, Esme and Florrie and until recently, our darling scruffy lurcher, Ernie. Family life, with it’s ever-changing mix of “normality” and special experiences together, is the most important part of my life.
I have an intimate knowledge of the local areas. This is a magical place to live and work.
My main career background has been as a teacher of History and then Head of Department for over twenty years. This was a job I adored and feel very proud to have done, but I also knew that I wanted to use my skills to find out who else I could be in my working life. I find every person’s individual story fascinating and I really do love the process of getting to know people and then craft a ceremony that shines a light on them – whether this is to celebrate their love story or their life story.
I love to be out and about especially camping or travelling further afield with family to experience different lands and cultures. A combination of yoga, swimming and particularly trail running around local cliffs, fields, paths and woodland keeps me active.
I’m blessed with very dear friends who share these activities – we get muddy and laugh together on endless adventures. Cups of tea, glasses of wine, sofa in front of a woodburner, reading and watching historical dramas are my favourite ways to relax.
I very much hope that people who know me would say I can be cheerful, kind, empathetic, a bit quirky and always willing to try something new.
